Vertical Farming for UAE

Vertical farming is an important technology for future food security. Vertical farming remained in UAE for over two decades right in front of the Abu Dhabi International Airport. It is in the form of a plant arrangement in which several beautiful potted plants are put together one above the other in rings attached to one pole, like a tree. Hardly anyone noticed the possibility of growing food the same way. I have been dreaming about starting a vegetable farm for over a decade. To start a farm in UAE one needs more than just dream.
Vertical farming is very much suitable for UAE situation, because it largely disconnect farming from the natural climate and soil. Need for water is greatly reduced in vertical farming.
Water from Air: In UAE water is the greatest challenge. But the atmosphere contains all the water we need. Atmospheric water machines are already in the market. In India an experimental plant in a poor village meets all its drinking water needs. We all know water drips from AC units during the summer. Atmospheric water machine is simply a modified air-conditioner designed to produce water. I brought one from China, shown in the picture with my son. This machine was promised to produce 20 litres of drinking water, but it actually produced only 7 litres. I lost Dh.5,000, an expensive experiment for a poor man. A standard air conditioner produces 20 litres a day. It could be modified to produce 100 litres. A vertical farm with solar atmospheric water machine will do miracles. This technology will mature in five to ten years from now.
At present vertical farming is actively promoted by an American professor Dr. Dickson Despommier,
